ChrysCapital to Acquire Stake in Linux Laboratories

Key Highlights:

  • ChrysCapital is set to acquire a 20–25% stake in CNS-focused Linux Laboratories for around $60–65 million (₹600 crore), with 5–10% coming through a primary capital infusion.
  • Tata Capital Healthcare Fund II, which holds a 15.35% stake, is expected to exit fully through the transaction. Founded in 2007, Linux Laboratories has 64+ brands and ~180 products across neurology, psychiatry and cosmetic dermatology.
  • Linux Laboratories is projected to report ₹450–500 crore revenue and ₹85–90 crore EBITDA in FY27. The deal further strengthens ChrysCapital’s presence in India’s domestic branded-generics market, following investments in companies including La Renon Healthcare, Mankind Pharma and Eris Lifesciences.

Implications:

ChrysCapital’s planned 20–25% stake in Linux Laboratories values the CNS‑focused branded‑generics company at roughly ₹2,400–3,000 crore, reflecting investor confidence in chronic‑therapy portfolios with strong brands in neurology, psychiatry and cosmetic dermatology. The deal gives ChrysCapital another domestic formulations platform to pair with its existing healthcare investments (including Novartis India, Eris, Mankind and La Renon), while enabling Linux to use primary capital and ChrysCapital’s network to expand distribution, add products and potentially pursue further acquisitions in India’s branded‑generics market.
