Creador in Talks to Acquire 10% Stake in Leeford Healthcare

Key Highlights:

  • Kuala Lumpur-based private equity firm Creador is in advanced talks to acquire around a 10% stake in Leeford Healthcare for nearly ₹800 crore, valuing the Ludhiana-based pharmaceutical company at ₹8,000–8,500 crore ($900 million). If completed, the deal would mark Leeford’s first external equity investment since its founding in 2006.
  • Promoted by Jiwan Lal Gupta, Leeford Healthcare has a portfolio of 2,000+ products spanning prescription medicines, generic formulations, nutraceuticals, personal care, specialty therapies, and mobility aids. The company operates 10 manufacturing facilities and an in-house formulation and development center in Himachal Pradesh, while exporting products to multiple international markets.
  • Leeford reported 5% revenue growth to $204.7 million in FY25, alongside a 27% increase in net profit to $28.4 million and a 24% rise in EBITDA to $40.5 million, according to Tracxn. The investment follows Creador’s November 2025 acquisition of a nearly 7% stake in La Renon Healthcare, further expanding its presence in India’s pharmaceutical sector.

Implications:

If completed, the transaction would likely be a strong validation event for mid-sized Indian pharmaceutical businesses that combine branded generics, nutraceuticals, and specialty products with in-house manufacturing, because a ₹8,000–₹8,500 crore valuation for a first-time external equity round signals that profitable, founder-led companies can still attract premium private-equity capital. It would also deepen Creador’s footprint in Indian healthcare after its La Renon investment, suggesting a strategy of backing scaled domestic pharma names with room for international growth, and may increase competitive pressure on similar private companies to professionalize governance and pursue institutional capital for expansion.
